Bethany Learning Academy is a ministry of Kids Come 1st Community Church.
We are a Christian church school covering homeschooling families throughout the State of Alabama.
The BLA Mission is to serve others while promoting an understanding that parents are responsible for the upbringing of their children, deciding from whom and what their children learn, and the general environments to which their children are exposed.
BLA was founded in 2006 and has grown beyond all anticipations. The cover school began by serving two families but has since grown to more than two hundred families throughout the state.
We believe that God created all children differently; therefore, no single curriculum can meet all children's needs. We happily assist new homeschooling parents in the tasks of identifying which resources are best for their children.
We believe that before a child will learn and retain information he or she must have a desire to know. We are eager to share methods that may help you ignite those urges in your homeschooling plan.
We believe that homeschooling, private schooling, public schooling, personal tutoring, or whatever schooling are all tools from which parents may select while directing the educations of their children. With that said, we also believe that parents should maintain control over their tools in lieu of the other way around. We believe that should the chosen tools ask parents to compromise the values they hold in highest regard as family units then it is time to put them down and select again. Your family values should maintain higher priorities over those of any other institutions==God created the family before the church, government, or park day.
We believe that Jesus Christ was born unto this world to a virgin and that He died so that we may live by believing in HIM.
We believe that "The Reason for the Season" is because "...God so loved the WORLD..." In honor of that love, in honor of that birth, in honor of His death, we, too, love His world. Through Christ, who was not sent to judge but to save this world, we extend our compassion to all souls we encounter."
Let us know what your needs are and we will share our experiences from similar situations to help you be successful while homeschooling, or if it is deemed your best option, not homeschooling. The key is that the parent is responsible, but with BLA, the parent is not alone.
Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others, faithfully administering God's grace in its various forms. 1 Peter 4:10 [NIV]
